PLDT myPad welcomes TRIAD RECORDS

Music enthusiasts may now purchase songs and full-length albums by charging to their PLDT landline bill, thanks to joint efforts of PLDT myPad, the telecom giant's sleek new DSL portal and renegade record label, Triad Records.

With the DSL wave sweeping the entire country, web surfers and netheads can now downlaod mp3's and videos at speeds of 384 kbps. That translates to approximately 2 minutes for audio files and 5 minutes for video files. That is good news for fans of hot breakthrough indie artists foodshelter&clothing (post-rock), Iohann (fusion rap), Einstein Chakras (leftist punk), Lizard Chips (alternative Pop), Rubberduckies (third world) and Jai B.(pop). Ongoing talks with similarly prolific acts like Falstaff Hero, Zither, Neighbors, and bands from the burgeoning Cebu music scene should keep music fans on their toes for a sound closer to home.

The label, which started physical distribution (CD's) late 2004 via alternative channels such as 24-hour convenience stores and magazine stands shocked industry bigwigs with their "pirated" pricing. "We certainly hope the paradigm shift will help the industry that has been crippled by piracy for years now ," says OMB Executive Director Marivic Benedicto in a statement last year.

myPad is one of many innovative services of PLDT along with weROAM, PLDTPlay, and the continually extended NDD flat fee promo.
